As we at KOGworldwide are music lovers but also, as the most of you can understand, we are Photography lovers, for our Photographer interview series we caught up this time with italian photographer Claudia Zalla, who was one of the photographer who collaborated with 55DSL in their latest T-Shirts collection.
Check out the interview below to find out more about this artist:
Hi Claudia, how are you?
I’m good, but it’s way too hot here.
uff, don’t complain, it’s way too cold here to be June.
Who are you?
My name is Claudia, I’m almost 28 years but I look younger than I am.
I currently live in Milan, where, between photos and bike rides and concerts and exhibitions, I work in the communication department of a brand of footwear.
How did you get into photography?
It was love at first sight. I fell head over heels for my father’s old Kodak. I was only six.
What is it that interests you most about photography?
I like to capture people immersed in their own world, intent on doing something, lost in thought. I like to fantasise, imagine what they’re thinking. And I relive those same feelings when I look at photographs: I ask myself the same questions.
What do you look for in your subjects?
My own recipe… I look for geometry, lines, proportions and every day actions in the people I shoot.
Photographers that inspire you?
I’ll mention three of the greatest photographers of all time:
André Kertész, Robert Frank and Gianni Berengo Gardin.
I’m not great at making long term plans, I really don’t know. Maybe in another city. Maybe with the same camera, the same film. Maybe. Maybe.
That’s easy, New York City. But Genova’s not bad either…
What’s on your iPod?
Lucio Battisti, Bon Iver, Beatles… B is a very popular letter on my iPod Artist list!
Canon or Nikon?
Digital or film?
Black and white or colour?
Ever thought about getting into video/filming?
It’s definitely a world that fascinates me. My boyfriend actually gave me a Super8, but I’m a bit lazy and I haven’t used it yet.
How did the collaboration with 55DSL come about?
Well 55dsl is just a big group of friends, and collaborations develop naturally among friends.
I’m really happy about this opportunity.
Unlike many other brands, the guys at 55DSL have a sense of responsibility and really invest in talented young people and their desire to create. And I think that’s amazing.
Photo shoot of your dreams?
Just hanging around. In a beautiful city. With good light and good weather. Living the moment.
Have you got any suggestions for young photographers?
I’m still a young photographer myself
