El-P – “The Full Retard” (Definitive Jux)

I had promised myself not to feature an artist more than once and as i struggled with to not post an ulterior video from Action Bronson, namely Steve Wynn (http://youtu.be/rv50blqv2XE), i give you The Full Retard! A crazy Journey featuring El-P and his sidekick as they party it up in scuzzy fashion going really “ham” as the kids say. Drugs, strippers, booze, more drugs, hallucinations, fast cars, murder and comic relief all for the love of it. Can’t help myself but think of how cool i thought Flat Eric was in the 90s and i can easily say that Mr. Killums is his modern day demented progeny. Check out the cameos from Mr Muthafuckin eXquire and Peel Off crew, Despot and many more. If you still don’t feel satiated, grab a big chunk of El-P’s Cancer 4 Cure album and trust me you will start feeling much better!

Children Of The Night – Kids From Queens (Mishka Records)

The year started really strong for the trio from Queens by dropping their classic mixtape on Mishka Records Queens…Revisited. Remy Banks, Nigel Nasty and Lansky Jones (www.cotnmusic.com) eloquently describe the trials and tribulations of growing up in Queens, staying out of trouble, having fun and getting ahead in life. These are what dreams are made of for rappers but the trio has an honest way of telling their stories which can’t be ignored. This mixtape is a must have as it featured fellow extended family members of World’s Fair crew Cody B. Ware, Prince Samo and Jeff Donna who have also been on the scene for soem time and have recently all graced us with the essential Company Fair cut. In the video the crew takes us through teh borough and shows us what it really means to be from Queens where bonds are made at birth.

Killer Mike – Big Beast feat. Bun B, T.I., Trouble, & El-P (Williams Street Records)

Having listened to the album a handful of time previously to seeing the video i knew i was going to be in for a treat but never would I have expected a classic pulp flick from the dastardly duo comprised of NYC producer/rapper genius El-P (twitter.com/therealelp)and southern staple Killer Mike (twitter.com/KillerMikeGTO). Bun B and T.I. paint a great picture which culminates with Killer Mike’s verse which drops like an elephant out of a cargo plane! Aside from this being on of the must hear albums, visually the video could not be any better as it abandons all of raps cliches and takes us into a violent trip in the mind of a madman.

#2
Meyhem Lauren – Special Effects feat Himanshu & Action Bronson (Greedhead)

This is the real New York, raw and uncut. In the last couple of years Outdoorsmen Action Bronson (actionbronson.com), Meyhem Lauren (www.meyhemlauren.com) and AG Da Coroner (twitter.com/agdacoroner) have been introducing us to their world and Mey’s recent tape, Respect The Fly Shit, takes us one step deeper into the minds of these individuals. Food inebriated, heavy handed raps that will destroy anything in their way are what you can expect on all of these MCs releases from Bronson & Party Supplies classic Blue Chips to Mey’s double tape Self Induced Illness! This is one of the anthems of the RTFS and it features super producer Harry Fraud and Das Racist /Greedhead (greedhead.net) records capo, Himanshu that has also been relentlessly providing us with modern classics.

#1
Carrie Wilds – Stay feat. Mr. Muthafuckin eXquire (Mishka Records)

This is the debut single from Mishka Records’ first female RnB singer. This marks a pivotal landmark for the label that has travelled through various electronic music, metal, indie and hip hop and has finally released a powerful female vocalist by the name of Carrie Wilds (carriewilds.com). The video features the label’s breakout artist of 2011 Mr. Muthafuckin’ eXquire which has been waving the flag for real Brooklyn hip op with his Lost in Translation mixtape which is set to be a classic. He has just re released the single Huzzah on Itunes and will be soon giving us Power and Passion on universal Records. Both artists tapes can currently be found on Mishka’s Bandcamp
