As far as we know, Skateboarding, since being the substitute of the SURF board, has become a very mainstream sport. Thousedns of kids in the world approached this ‘sport’ (which in my opinion is a culture not just a sport) and scares old people in he street, with their ollies, jumps, 360′s, slides etc.
But as for the Financial Times, Skateboarding is a business that suffered a lot the crisis and is still struggling to move forward and build profitable businesses from the potentially billion dollar market.
Many people point to the fact that skateboarding companies often don’t offer products to non-skateboarding customers, thus limiting their market drastically, especially in years when the sport’s participants dwindle. When companies do welcome outside support however, it can be hard to maintain credibility and keep your core demographic. Watch the video below for further insight.
